About the Course:

This CNMP Development Course is a component of the University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension Service CNMP Certification Program. Under a national MOU with USDA, individuals certified under this program can be recognized by USDA as Technical Service Providers (TSP) through the Tech Reg System.

The CNMP Development Course provides the educational component of the Tennessee TSP certification program. This three-day short course is designed to train consultants in the development of Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMPs). Course participants will learn how to prepare CNMPs meeting current NRCS guidelines. The course will focus on the CNMP development process. A CNMP developed for an existing livestock facility will be used to demonstrate practical plan preparation techniques. Course participants will receive training that is applicable in any state, as well as experience with a real plan during the course. Attendees will receive an example CNMP, and be introduced to available preparation assistance software during the course.

The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002, the farm bill, allows for USDA recognized TSPs to be reimbursed for CNMP development and other specific technical assistance services. Please contact your local NRCS service center for program specifics in your state.
